Link for Met's Timeline

Timeline of Art History - all purpose reference tool

Have you tried the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Timeline of Art History?

The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York has created a web site that serves as a one-stop reference source for world art and material culture. If you are looking for maps; thematic essays; information on a specific work of art, movement, artist, culture, or style; compare art from one part of the world to another; or just plain want to have some fun this is the place to go. Read about current and past exhibitions held at the Met. Not only have the developers of this site loaded it with exciting graphics and informative text, they have made it easy to use by including a site search and indexing features. Search for a topic and you’ll be presented with Timeline web pages that provide facts, analysis, and thematic essays written by scholars. Results also include images of objects in the museum. Click on one of these selections, read all about it, then page down to learn how to cite the page in a paper, presentation, or publication. Multimedia materials can be found on many topics, too. Take some time to get to know the Met’s Timeline of Art History. Send an e-card from the site to a friend saying “Wish you were here!”
